The History

Wolverine Energy and Infrastructure is a diversified energy, midstream environmental and infrastructure services provider headquartered in Nisku, Alberta with over 70 years of operating history. Wolverine commenced active business operations through a predecessor entity, Rig Services Equipment Ltd., in 1952 as an oilfield service provider. Over the course of its history, the Wolverine group of companies has pursued a unique strategy combining organic growth and accretive acquisitions.

Today, Wolverine is a full service, diversified service provider operating in two key segments: i) Midstream Environmental Services, including water management, waste water disposal and recycling and full service waste management and; ii) Oilfield Services and Rentals, including oilfield rentals, heavy equipment rentals, construction and transportation and trailer rentals. Wolverine's operations are based in Western Canada and the United States.

Wolverine is strongly positioned to consolidate a highly fragmented energy services market in Western Canada, while diligently focusing on return on capital deployed, and market diversification, maintaining a focus on best in class services throughout the full life cycle of its diverse clients’ projects.

The History

Wolverine Energy and Infrastructure Inc. started out in 1952 as Rig Service Equipment – delivering great tools and great service to the industry. Along the way there have been many changes, business acquisitions and divisions. We have grown, developed and always strived to maintain our commitment to client satisfaction. The common ownership and operations made for a perfect situation to bring these companies together, offering exceptional benefits to all stakeholders. Now with the amalgamated group of companies we have the most diverse product offering and skill set in the over 70 year history of the company. This is the next big step for us and we look forward to another 70 years with our great clients.

  • Jesse Douglas, President and Chief Executive Officer

    Mr. Douglas is the founder, controlling shareholder, director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wolverine. Mr. Douglas has a wealth of expertise in acquiring and integrating accretive businesses and is passionate about entrepreneurship. Prior to founding Wolverine, Mr. Douglas studied business at the University of Alberta and served in executive positions in Alberta-based construction firms.

  • John Carvalho, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer

    Mr. Carvalho is Chief Financial Officer, Chief Investment Officer and Corporate Secretary of Wolverine. Mr. Carvalho was Director and Vice President, Financial Advisory (Valuations and Corporate Finance) at Deloitte LLP. Mr. Carvalho holds the Corporate Finance designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, is a Chartered Business Valuator under the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA Alberta).

  • Rick Quigley, Chief Operating Officer

    Mr. Quigley is the Chief Operating Officer of Wolverine. Mr. Quigley served as Chief Executive Officer of Petrowest Corporation from October 2010 to May 2017. Prior to this role, Mr. Quigley served as the Co-Chief Operating Officer of Petrowest Energy Services General Partner Ltd. Mr. Quigley started in the construction industry in 1987, owning and operating Quigley Contracting, based in Fort St. John, British Columbia.

  • Nikolaus Kiefer, Vice President of Corporate Development

    Mr. Kiefer has spent the last 10 years of his career focused in Business Development and Capital Markets, most recently serving as the Vice President of Business Development and Capital Markets of a TSX listed company. Prior to this, Mr. Kiefer was a Sell-Side Research Analyst where he spent time covering Energy Services, E&P and Special Situations. Mr. Kiefer has a degree in Finance from the University of Western Ontario.

  • John Paul Smith, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Director of Capital Allocation

    Mr. Smith is the General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Director of Capital Allocation for Wolverine. Mr. Smith has over 5 years’ experience in legal private practice that was broadly focused on corporate commercial law, litigation, compliance and corporate governance. Prior to this, Mr. Smith worked with the legal group of a public oil and gas company and was an executive of a Calgary-based construction company. Mr. Smith holds two bachelor degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Calgary, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Calgary.

  • Dennis Sharp, Chairman

    Mr. Sharp is a Professional Engineer with a degree in Geological Engineering from Queen’s University. During the past 50 years, Mr. Sharp has served in a variety of executive capacities in the private and public energy sectors including Chairman and CEO of UTS Energy Corporation, CS Resources, Command Drilling and a director of EnCana Corporation, PanCanadian Petroleum, Azure Dynamics and non-profit organizations, including The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, McGill Chamber Orchestra and Centaur Theatre Productions.

  • David Heighington, Independent Director

    Mr. Heighington is the principal lawyer at Heighington Law Firm where he has been engaged in the areas of securities, corporate and commercial law in excess of 20 years. He has acted for a broad range of domestic and foreign issuers, with a particular emphasis in IPO's, venture capital, and mergers and acquisitions, both domestic and cross-border transactions. In addition, he has acted as corporate secretary and/or a director of numerous public corporations listed on TSXV, engaged in the oil and natural gas, mining, industrial, technology and venture capital industries. Mr. Heighington is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, Canadian Bar Association and Calgary Bar Association and received his B.A. from the University of Victoria in British Columbia in 1993 and his LLB. Hon. from the University of Durham in Durham, England in 1997.

  • Dirk Le Poole, Independent Director

    Mr. LePoole is the President of Di-Corp, a role he as held since 2011 and is a current director of the Petroleum Services Association of Canada. Prior to his current role as President, Mr. LePoole has held the roles of both VP of Marketing and VP of Operations. Mr. LePoole has a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
